Springer Family Winemakers

OUR VINEYARDS
SPRINGER Winemakers possess vineyards in two locations – Čtvrtě and Skale – with a total area of 5 hectares and 24,000 grapevines. We are members of the Integrated Wine and Grape Production System. The aim of this system is to minimize the use of protective chemicals for the treatment of vineyards and to use environmentally-friendly agents instead.
We try to keep the ecosystem as diverse as possible: the inter-rows are green, thereby providing refuge to lizards, various types of butterflies and predatory grasshoppers. We successfully use an environmentally-friendly method of eliminating grape berry moths – we confuse the male moths by means of pheromones. The Typhlodromus Pyri predatory mite is used against the spider mite and grapeleaf rust mite instead of using chemicals to eliminate them.
We use only bovine manure as fertilizer. The grass growth is mulched – this prevents soil erosion and the loss of humus. Grapes from these environmentally-friendly cultivated vineyards are used for our high-quality wines.
